In June, we celebrate Father’s Day. While this day brings joy to many people, it also brings pain to many others.
.
On December 17th 2013, I lost my dad suddenly to a heart attack. I was only 19, and he was only 45; it was completely unexpected, and he is missed every day. When Father’s Day rolls around every year, I feel my stomach clench a little. While I recognize it’s a wonderful day for many wonderful fathers, it still hurts that mine isn’t here to celebrate.
.
So many teens have experienced grief far too soon. That’s why at the end of this month, I will be donating 10% of my June profits to @erinshouse4grievingchildren. Erin’s House is a Fort Wayne based organization that helps grieving teens learn to manage their pain in a healthy and nurturing environment.
.
To all of you who have lost your fathers: I see you.
To all of you who never knew your fathers: I see you.
To all of you who were hurt by your fathers: I see you.
To all the fathers who have lost a child: I see you.
To the men who have prayed and prayed to become a father: I see you.
To the single mothers who have had to take on both rolls: I see you.
To the single fathers who have had to do the same: I see you.
To all of you suffering on this day: I see you. I feel your pain. I’m here for you. You are not alone.
